Jesus, Hallmark, and the GREATEST love story of all time
It’s Christmas. That might seem like an obvious statement, but for me, it doesn’t seem that obvious this year. I’ve said Merry Christmas only once so far. It’s not particularly Merry, and frankly, it doesn’t quite feel like Christ is coming. This year has been messy and complicated. A word that just keeps coming to mind is dastardly: wicked and cruel, and the cruelness of this world is complex.
Are You Fanning the Flame?
It is often quite easy to get caught up in the patterns and traditions of this world. We subscribe to selfish mentalities and conform to behaviors that are less than holy. But if we are truly walking in the calling of the Holy Spirit, then we should be working to listen to his gentle whisper each day as He guides us down a path of righteousness.
Make the Church Great Again
This week, Kendall preached such a great message. His main point was, all other kings are takers, but Jesus is a selfless-giver. The things we want in this world can be good, but if we elevate these things higher than Jesus, they only take from us. He poses this question: who, or what, is king in your life?
Check Your Heart Before You Wreck Your Heart
Look around you. There’s strife, turmoil, conflict, animosity, you name it. The world has been in a state of division and distrust since the very beginning of time. Adam and Eve ate the apple. They believed God was holding out on His blessing for them. They didn’t trust that God was good at being God.
What do Dead Animals and Marriage Have in Common?
I have had the privilege of walking through premarital counseling with a couple these past few weeks. It’s a privilege for me because I have the opportunity to experience the covenant relationship with this couple without being married myself. While it’s foreign territory for all of us, it’s often the case that we meet God in foreign territories.
You’re Worth More Than a One-Night Stand
"Failure won't define me because that's what my Father does."
This is just one of the many uplifting lines of worship I've heard in my life, from a song I've listened to a hundred times. For some reason, it sat with me more this past Tuesday, though I didn't know why when I sang it.
Swipe Right on the Right One
Don’t date forever. If you know, then go. Get married. Make the commitment to love this person. Don’t date for years and keep yourself in temptation. And if you’re not sure, make sure you are clear about that. It is better to have a broken heart in dating, than a broken home in marriage. Don’t drag things on because you might be sure later. Make the decision and make the commitment. Choose that person or don’t. But make a decision. You will both be healthier for it.
You Are Not Owed a Relationship!
When most of the world considers singleness, they consider it fun. They imagine going out with their friends, drinking with no one telling them to stop, flirting, hook-ups, you name it. I mean, it even goes as far as the basic “boomer” memes, joking about the inconveniences of having a husband or wife. However, as Christians, we often view singleness in an extremely different light than modern society does.
Don’t Dump Your Friends and Tell Your Family They Suck
From a Christian perspective, relationships are just a stepping stone. The end goal is thinking, acting, and ultimately looking more like Christ, and in doing so, our relationships with Christ becomes stronger. The only relationship where the relationship is the end goal is with Jesus. All of our human relationships should only be pointing us more toward Christ.
Get Over Yo’self and Love Like Jesus
This is one of the most divisive times in our history. No matter what you say, you will have someone tell you just how wrong you are, and they will have a plethora of resources at their fingertips to prove you wrong and tear you down.
Powerful Things Happen when People connect with god
If you are anything like me, you probably have longed for moments like that with God, where you can feel His presence, as if He is walking alongside of you. Although these moments are few and far between, they helped me experience the necessity for unity with God.
Powerful things happen when god’s people unite.
The world is broken. It is plagued with suffering, war, famine, illness, disease, natural disasters… the list goes on and on. God’s Word predetermined that these things would happen in our lifetime. Ever since the beginning -- at the fall of mankind -- the earth and its inhabitants have cried out and searched for more; than simply living eternally in sin and destruction.
